Clay Houston, a Charlotte native, began competing in dance at the age of four. He trained at Charlotte Ballet Academy and spent a year dancing as a trainee in the pre-professional division. After graduating high school, he moved to New York City to further pursue contemporary and modern dance forms. Here, he trained at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and GibneyPRO's inaugural professional cohort under the direction of Alexandra Wells and Gilbert T. Small II.

Throughout his career, Clay has performed repertoire by Ohad Naharin, Alejandro Cerrudo, Aszure Barton, Bryan Arias, Rena Butler + Maleek Washington, Sonyah Tayeh, and Jenn Freeman. He has also attended workshops at The School at Jacob's Pillow, The Juilliard School, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, LINES Ballet, and Houston Ballet. His current professional endeavors are with Charlotte Ballet's first company.

Clay enjoys sharing his dedication to movement with younger dancers and looks forward to cultivating emerging talent across the greater Charlotte region.
